Bruce,

I'll make this really simple for ya - the bottom line is that the heads with 'issues' are all
based on mediocre castings and outdated casting technology.

You can make power with all of them, but for reliability sake if you're gonna spend the bucks it takes for a set of bad-ass Oldsmobile heads the best foundation to build them on is the Edelbrock casting and Edelbrock casting technology.

Now Scotty, I would say all that is matter of opinion. I did a bunch of research into who was using each style/brand of head and what many customer's feedback was. In my opinion, I made the best choice. Oh ya my opinion counts since it's MY engine.

dunno Pete-O,

last ROP post I saw on the subject Mr. Olds was pouring aluminum into molds out in the barn with a ladle - IF you recall the pics he posted over on ROP last year.

Or Mr Smartass, do you have new intel that they've purchased a modern caster and set it up next to the bandsaw over at Wise Engineering?

here's a link so you can catch up on Edelbrock's barn operation: http://edelbrockfoundry.com/prod_permanent.html

Pete,

Then why don't you fill us in on how Mr Olds's ladle poured castings compare to Edelbrocks piss-poor wetback processed castings?

I'm sure you know your stuff and I'm not claiming to be an expert in aluminum casting, although I do have some die-casting experience having done engineering work for HPM here in Ohio on their die-casters back in the 90s, our own automated endplate die-casting cells in Fort Smith, Arkansas and our electric motor rotor-casting cells in three plants in Arkansas, Mississippi and Georgia.

BUT, I haven't been to any Chinese aluminum casting plants or Mr Olds foundry....
